A looong while ago, I ordered new pulls and knobs for our kitchen cabinets. From Restoration Hardware, I chose the Hanson Knobs and the Gilmore Pulls...both in polished nickel. I need to get out the screwdriver and put these on...hopefully I can get to it on Sunday!
After that happens, I need to get new levers for the pantry doors too....maybe something like this:
I think the polished nickel would look sharp against the black chalkboard paint. Plus, the beauty of this project is that I hate the current pantry doors...they are hollow and ugly, so even if I don't end up liking the chalkboard paint, replacing the doors would be a welcome option.
Do you think painting this pair of doors black is bananas?? I am obsessed with contrast so the idea appeals to me...but it could definitely be a little too extreme!
Yes - it would look great with your dark granite!
ReplyDeleteWe just went to a friends house last week that painted their pantry door, I loved it. I've been wanting to do something in chalboard paint ever since. I am working on redoing my office, and I think I've figured out a wall. Let us know how the paint goes on.
ReplyDeletei think it will look fantastic! go for it!
ReplyDeleteLove the pulls and I think the pantry doors in black will look great. I saw a house on another blog (can't remember which one) where they painted all of the interior doors black. It looked really great.
ReplyDeleteI vote yes!
ReplyDeleteA must--it will look fantastic.
ReplyDeletePlease post pics once you've done it!
I just bought chalkboard paint to do a small wall in my kitchen. You go first!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the black doors. I have used chalkboard paint...it looks cool ( but can be messy if there are a lot of little erasers in your home) good luck - GO for it!
ReplyDeleteI think you should do it!! It would work well with your dark counter tops for sure :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea, especially if you cave for those shiny gorgeous handles on the doors.
ReplyDeleteThis will totally dress the doors up and create a great contrast in there -- it'll be super-European-looking.
Cannot wait to see the after shots.

I think that would look really cool! I've seen it done on a similar door but they added decorative wood trim with a nail gun to make a rectangular panel and then painted the inside with the black paint. I think you have enough dark stone in your kitchen that the black/gray wouldn't be too out of place, though.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the results!
I LOVE it!! I painted an entire wall in my kitchen with black chalkboard paint- I even loved it before I rubbed chalk on it. It looked so sexy and sleek!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea! I actually wanted to do the exact same thing in my kitchen, but as a compromise with the hubby, I just ended up putting up a framed magnetic chalkboard. I just blogged about the the other day if you want to check it out.
ReplyDeleteAnd your hardware picks are beautiful! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
I think there is a company that makes colored chalkboard paint if you wanted to bring in another color. It's called Hudson Paint I believe.
ReplyDeleteI say go for it. Chalkboard those doors!
i love this idea! the chalkboard doors will be so much fun.
ReplyDeletejust found your blog, love it!
