Favorite Fabric: Malay Ikat

I posted some spectacular spaces on Tuesday from revered fabric and wallpaper purveyor Thibaut. They make one the best Greek key-esque fabrics called Malay Ikat. I was having problems loading the photos of the fabric on the site and thankfully Molly at Thibaut was kind enough to send them to me so that I could share them with you. In both spaces the fabric is used on upholstery and it looks fantastic. I especially love the large scale of the repeat. I'd love to use it on a chair or two in my house but the color options aren't working for me...perhaps Thibaut will add an orange or a cool gray to the lineup ;)

The Turquoise (W98689) colorway was used on these chic little chairs...

And in the Lime (W98690) colorway...

Here are all of the color options...

What do you think of the fabric? What colorways would you add if you got to choose? I'm thinking that pink would also be super cute!

Pillow Placement Predicament

I recently ordered a bold turquoise and orange Sabira Home pillow, mainly because it looked strikingly similar to my favorite lamp.

I envisioned it in our den, but now that it's in the room, I'm wondering if it's too matchy-matchy. What do you think? I paired it with my zebra pillows (West Elm) on the sofa...

Here's my normal setup...

Which way looks better?

Perhaps it should it go in this little bedroom?

Thoughts? Opinions?

Thibaut's Wonderful World of Wallpaper and Fabric

I'm pretty smitten with some of the wallpaper and fabric that Thibaut is producing these days. Perhaps it's because they do a such great job of providing enticing product photography. Room scenes like these effectively portray how wallpaper and fabric can transform a room. For many of their patterns you can view a room scene and a super-sized image of the fabric...both of which you can view in full-screen mode and zoom in on. It's way better than the typical flat swatch that so many other companies provide, so kudos to Thibaut! I've culled through most of their coffers and these are some of my favorite looks along with the wallpapers and fabrics that make the magic...

I also love the Navy and Orange colorways of the Ecuador pattern...

Wallpaper - Rio Black and White T732

Wallpaper - Royal T758 - Light Taupe
The Citrus T762 colorway is fabulous too...

Besides the ones shown above, I also love Thibaut's Malay Ikat fabric, but I couldn't get the image to open properly.

Do you get excited about wallpaper and fabric? I could look at it all day long!

Frank Roop's Fresh Spaces

Frank Roop is a talented Boston-area designer who has been published in most of the major design magazines including Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Veranda, and the late Metropolitan Home. From his mag features, I remember noticing the distinctive cushions that he uses on so many of the upholstered seating pieces in his spaces. Juxtaposed against pretty modern chairs and sofas, the cushions have a casual, old school mattress-like construction. Upon seeing them, I immediately thought of the indie platform + cushion combos from Urban Outfitters. In any case, I like the mix and I'm sure the cushions are super comfortable.

I recently found my way to Mr. Roop's website and wanted to share some images from his impressive portfolio. He certainly seems to have a signature style (notice all of the folding screens...they're often uncharacteristically short) and you'll notice that he often uses a color palette that combines neutrals with vibrant tones (he loves chartreuse!). The look ends up being fresh and interesting, but restrained.

Here's the curveball of the bunch...I really love that super long blue velvet bench!

What are your thoughts on Frank Roop's designs? Any favorite rooms?

Judging from the aesthetic of most of his portfolio, I was surprised to find out that he lives in Boston...not sure why, but I'd probably have guessed Miami. I think the color palettes seem very coastal, and not in a New England-coastal kind of way. It just goes to show that geographic location doesn't have anything to do with style!

Addicted to Svpply

Have you all heard about Svpply yet? It's amazing! I just started compiling my lust list on there after my friend Ashley told me about it. The site is super easy to use and the layout is wonderfully clean and simple. Here's a snapshot of my Svpply...

You all should definitely try it out! It's a great way to create a wish list or just a catch-all for inspiring things. The only downside is that it doesn't work well with sites that use Flash and/or zoom tools for their main product images. For example, I tried tagging this cool desk from Ethan Allen and it came up blank on my Sypply list...

Nuevo Inspiration

I've been bored lately as far as design goes. Maybe I'm just feeling jaded at the moment but it seems like the same few styles and trends are used over and over again. So, I was thrilled to discover Nuevo Estilo where I uncovered a war chest of fresh inspiration. As you'll see below, the spaces they publish are bold, exciting, unique, and most are full of fabulous architectural details. In so many of the rooms, the artwork, the lighting, and the flooring caught my attention. In any case, I LOVE this new resource and wish that I could speak/read Spanish so that I could read the text!

Sorry for the onslaught of images! I couldn't narrow it down any further.

Any spaces that you like best?
