It's harder to find larger ones...but they grow very rapidly if given the right conditions. A lot of sources say bright, indirect light but I find that if you give it ample water, it will actually thrive in direct light. Keep in mind, these plants grow outdoors in tropical areas...they're a rainforest plant, and thus can tolerate a broad range of conditions from shade to sun.

I have found them easy to care for. The main issue is that they tend to grow upright with a single trunk, and don't usually grow enough wood to support their own weight. You can make them grow bushier by pruning them, cutting off the top, and they will sprout out to the side more...but the one pictured here looks bushy already. They can grow upright but I think in their native habitat they're usually an epiphyte (growing on other plants) so they like something for support. Having them up against a wall might make sense.Alex Zorachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08335878680429494039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2208510683918192524.post-39607998540569032011-09-30T15:14:12.643-05:002011-09-30T15:14:12.643-05:00I'm on the phone with Home Depot now.
