Photog Ambroise Tézenas

Ambroise Tézenas is the artist behind a few (if not all) of the photographs hanging on the walls in Pierre Frey's Paris apartment that I wrote about earlier in the week. From what I can tell from the images published in Nuevo Estilo, these are some of the selected pieces:

Mallet Stevens street, Paris, France - European Nightscape series

Trocadero, Paris - European Nightscape series

Sleeping Taxi Driver. Mumbai, India - Mumbai series

While trolling around trying to confirm that Ambroise Tézenas was responsible for the artwork, I found his Tumblr which is full of stunning photos. Being the Francophile that I am, I couldn't resist sharing these interior shots that he took for French magazine Numéro...

“Dans le salon de Kilian Hennessy”  for NUMERO (France) by Ambroise Tézenas

“Dans le salon d’Elie Saab”  for NUMERO (France) by Ambroise Tézenas

“Dans le salon de Schiaparelli”  for NUMERO (France) by Ambroise Tézenas

Aren't his photographs amazing? I hate to focus on his editorial work, but I'm pretty enthralled with the shots he did for Numéro. I need to snoop around and find more photos of Kilian Hennessy's abode...it looks pretty fabulous, don't you think?

Sharon Montrose's Animal Print Shop

One of the most challenging tasks is finding artwork for nurseries and kids rooms that is affordable and sophisticated enough to not read cheesy/tacky. Well, thanks to pro photog Sharon Montrose, there is a resource for art that is perfect in spaces for the young (and old). The Animal Print Shop sells Montrose's gorgeous photographs of animals, many of which are tiny babies, and I'll just tell you to be prepared to smile and say, "awwwww" over and over. Here are some of the Little Darlings above a crib...

The series of portraits is simple and sophisticated, but still exuberant and playful. Montrose captures the personalities of dozens of live animals and if you're an animal lover like I am, you'll want them all (except I wasn't so into the reptiles). You can order prints in a variety of sizes and the 8.5 x 11" size open edition starts at just $25 (plus it can be framed in ready made frames from retailers like IKEA and West Elm).

A set of the small sizes would be great for the kiddos but if you're buying for the more mature rooms in your house, up the ante and buy the larger sizes because they are more dramatic. I want to get my hands on a 30" x 40" - the thought of picking one stresses me out. I'd have to have a menagerie!

Here are a few of my favorites...

There are some fabulous flamingo shots like this one which is called Flying Flamingo...

In the One the Wall section of the site, you'll find lots of inspiring rooms that showcase Montrose's stunning photos. Here is a sampling...

So, what are your thoughts on the photographs from The Animal Print Shop? I just love them but I'm also a little bit obsessed with animals. Do you have a favorite subject from the bunch?

And in case you're like me and found yourself wondering about the welfare and lifestyle of the animals in the photos, rest assured that they are a-ok and are cared for by experienced keepers and handlers. Montrose notes that the series helps support several organizations devoted to animal rescue, educational programs, and nurturing wildlife...so yay for them :)

Homage to the Photographer - Sarah Dorio

I ran across a gorgeous photograph taken by Sarah Dorio and found my way to her portfolio. It's filled with stunning, light-filled images and I wanted to share some of them with you. Just a little interior eye candy on this November Monday...

I don't know about you, but I'm dying to visit Atlanta now so that I can eat at the restaurants shown above! Sarah's photos make them look pretty amazing.

Do you have any favorite rooms from the portfolio? I love the living room at the top by Mimi Williams and the white nursery is really cute (which I had the designer credit on that one).

Paul Costello - Photographer Extraordinaire

I am an amateur photographer who desperately wants to master the art of taking beautiful, light-filled interior photos. I've learned a lot over the past year, but still have a long way to go. I probably hate eight out of ten shots that I take! While frustrating at times, the whole learning process has definitely upped my level of appreciation for pro photogs. Along with the interior designers and magazine editors, these are the talented people that create our inspiration images.

Paul Costello is one of these pros and he has captured some really special moments in interior design. Many of you have surely seen his work in Domino in addition to most of the other major shelter mags. Having worked with top notch designers like Miles Redd, Paul Costello has been tapped to shoot some pretty stellar projects. Despite the high jumping off point, he certainly has a knack for taking something that looks fantastic and making it look even better. His ability to manipulate natural light is impressive to say the least. Not going to lie, I'm pretty jealous of his skills! He has created some truly memorable photos, including the following from his portfolio...

I loved looking through Paul's entire portfolio which includes a huge range of subjects and settings. I'm pretty obsessed with the idea of buying a large-scale print of this one...

All amazing photos, aren't they? Are any of you budding photographers?

Ode to the Photographer

A good photographer can be one of an interior designer's greatest assets. Somehow I stumbled upon David Christensen's portfolio and I loved a few of his interior shots. It's amazing how well he captures the light in a space.

Gorgeous photos, aren't they? I wish I knew who designed each space!
