Campaign Tables

I frequently get asked about the two gold accent tables in our living room. Similar styles are often referred to as campaign tables, since they were originally designed for use in officers' quarters on military campaigns. The collapsible accordion base design allowed them to be quickly broken down and moved from battlefield to battlefield. Anyhow, all of mine came from Pier 1 and were a steal...under $50 a piece!

I have another one in the guest room functioning as a nightstand.

And it was a bar in a former life ;)

I hardly ever see affordable substitutes so I was thrilled to see Urban Outfitters' Metal Accordion Side Table - a style similar to my little round one. It's only $60 and they have it in an antique brass finish and also in two fun colors. The Metal Accordian coffee table is a look-alike as well - it's $128. And, I couldn't resist throwing the other SUPER cute but totally unrelated table options!

To jazz these up, you could have a piece of mirror (either regular or an antiqued finish) cut and put it in the inset. If you want a swankier look, you could do the same with a piece of marble or granite like these here.

Ok, enough table talk. Have a wonderful weekend and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

  3. I the exact same tables. I have three of the cocktail, one oval coffee and the two of the rectangular ones. I snatched them up when they were on clearance. I like the bar you have set up on the rectangular one. I may move some things around this weekend.

The new Elle Decor line at Kohl's also carries a campaign table. Since Kohl's runs sales quite often these can be found for under $100 or so.

  6. Annette - Thanks for sharing that link! That table looks neat. After clicking through, I found a marble-topped one from the Elle Decor line that I liked too.

  9. Hi,
do you have any of these campaign tables you are selling right now? I just learned what they were called after all these years. You just don't see them very often, or at least I don't. And I am looking for a coffee table. I found the bronze one you have here but it is was just stopped being made. :( So I was wondering if you, or your readers have a coffee table in this style that is for sale, or you know where I might find one. Thank you so much!
