State of the Kitchen

Here is what our kitchen currently looks like:

It looks very hodgepodge and unfinished (which it is). In a dream world, I'd love to remodel the area to improve form and function, however, reality will only allow for some minor adjustments...likely executed over time. My immediate goal is to achieve a more tailored, transitional style -- hopefully, with the help of a few of the following items, I can pull together the room...
