Parisian Doors

I've had the itch to paint our front door for a while now, but I've been annoyingly indecisive about the color. While we were in Paris a few months ago, I became obsessed with the doors throughout the city. They are all so grand and each one is unique and interesting. The ornate details in and around the doors are spectacular yet understated. Many are painted in fabulous, rich colors and since I'm considering blue for our door, I especially loved seeing all of the different shades of blue in action. I only wish my door was half as stunning as these Parisian ones!

Is this topic a total snooze for you or do you notice pretty doors like I do?

  2. I love painted doors! I've painted my front door red, an interior door black, my back door blue (um, this is sounding kind of like a crayon box?!)...and I'm in the process of framing a bunch of pics from one of my fave books from one of my fave places...The Doors of San Miguel de Allende. So no, not a snooze for me! :)

  5. These photos are great. Love the red door with the pair of hands grasping the 82 address plate. Also love the next photo of the blue door with the ornate iron work.

  6. This just confirms we are cut from the same cloth...
I was in Spain this summer and took tons of photos of doors and balconies, I and have been obsessing on ways to make my north Texas home have a European flair ever since

  7. Absolutely go for it.

We lived in our home for 5 years with a ho-hum stained door and an oddly non-commital pinkish/greige stucco.
We finally painted the exteriors a crisp white with a high-gloss black front door and the facelift has totally transformed the mood of our home.
At last, I feel like our interior decor jives with the house's exterior, not to mention that the patio and balcony furny finally look like they belong to our home!

  10. They are very pretty. Fortunately my husband and I live in a north Dallas area where ornate doors are quite common. At our last home we purchased matching doors and gates from DallasGateCo. I think that they do work all over the country. You might try them.

  11. Wow!!!! Great Shots! Are kidding me? These are amazing doors and thank your for sharing it with us! :-)

Color: Don't play too safe with it! It's just paint. BUT, make sure you do a good job. A front door is like the "eyes"of your house. What kind of eye shadow you use? I mean, it's there "in your face" kind of thing. Do you want my opinion? Judging by your house, you have a "classic" taste. Don't go differently with your door. Be classic and you'll like it for a long time...
    Good luck! ;-)
