Thanksgiving Tablescape

Where has the time gone...I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! In honor of the holiday, I pimped my dining room and set up an autumnal tablescape. I planned to do it for the HomeGoods blog, and thought I'd share it here as well. I give a little more information on that post, so be sure to take a look!

The flowers are just cheapo ones I found at the grocery store while buying cold medicine. The colors are great and I think the big centerpiece should look better after a day or two, because the roses haven't opened up yet.

The exercise reminded me that my entertaining arsenal has a few holes in it! On my list: napkin rings, monogrammed chargers, champagne flutes, and a tablecloth that will fit our huge table.

Are you hosting Thanksgiving at your house? What's on your supply list?

  9. * KSK, this is lovely, gracious & CHARMING!!! I'm a fan of "Imperfectly Perfect"~ or should I say "Perfectly Imperfect"? Either way, I was just a tad "surprized" that your tablecloth DIDN'T fit "exactly"~~~ ANNND, may I say I found THAT to be UBER-CHARMING, warm and endearing, let alone even MORE INVITING than the actual standard "made to fit"! ("Uh huh! Honest!)...

Being an absolute LINEN N*U*T, I couldn't help but admire your napkins... are they by chance Leontine? If not, may I ask who made them? They're simply STUNNING!!!

    Thanks for the visual candy!

  13. Looks beautiful. What made you choose a round table instead of a rectangular or oval table? Was it just preference or the room dimensions or something else?

  14. Wow Kyle, you have quite the menagerie of furiture styles mixed in your dining. I have to agree with the other comments that your linens are very diverse as well. I see that everything has your monogram. Is your husband relegated to the garage? :)

  15. Laura - The rug is from FLOR...the pattern is called Side by Side. Because of the large rounds table, I wanted a large square rug and the FLOR tiles were the easiest/cheapest way to get the size just right.

  16. P.S. I love this - I chose a round table because I think they are better for conversation...this one was made with a one leaf so it actually expands to an oval. Also, the room is pretty square so my preference for the round ended up working perfectly with the space.

  17. Misty - I'm interested to hear more about what "furniture styles" you see mixed in my dining room. Aside from the buffet (which I hate and will be replaced), the furniture pieces in the room - china cabinet, table, and chairs - are all similar in style.

The linens aren't what I typically use...I was trying to get some fall color into the mix so I had to improvise. For the non-photo-shoot dining situation, I'd just use my regular white linen tablecloth.

As far as the monogramming goes, I am pretty old-school in that realm. Traditional etiquette maintains that household linens are monogrammed with the wife’s married initials. If my husband had any objection to that standard, I'd definitely include his initial, but honestly, the monogram on our linens definitely ranks at the bottom of his priority list!

  19. Kyle, I think you are amazingly talented. Thanks a million for sharing your table--love everything in all of your rooms. Forgive me if you've done a post on this, but if you haven't, would you be willing to share about how you have your art framed and matted? Each piece throughout your home is so beautifully done and I'd love to know how you do it, as I'm such an amateur in that area and need tips desperately. Thanks in advance!!

  20. Hi Kyle! I just found your blog. Your dining room is beautiful. I've actually been looking for chairs like those for my dining room. Do you mind if I ask where you found the chairs and chandelier?

  21. Hi again,

Thanks for answering my question. I think the round looks divine and does work better for conversation. From what I can see of your lovely dining room, it's a perfect choice. *off to find round table*
