Stella Dallas

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Franki Durbin and spending a few hours with her. She recently moved to Texas and is writing a fun series called "Show Me Your Dallas" on her blog, Life in a Venti Cup. The idea is for Dallasites like moi to act as city ambassadors and take her to a few of our favorite haunts. I was so excited about the idea and about meeting Franki, but I had a hard time choosing my destinations because there are so many awesome shopping stops in Big D. We ended up at Ceylon et Cie and William-Christopher Design. As you can see from my past posts on those establishments, I adore both and loved introducing them to Franki.

Stella Dallas was another store that I was considering for our SMYD date because it's a favorite of mine as well. I hadn't been by in a while so I dropped by there yesterday. As usual, they had an amazing assortment of furnishings, decor, stationery, and lots of other pretty things in between. Anyhow, I wanted to share some pics of the store to show of their cool merch...

What a great sofa (by Shine) and mélange of pillows, right?

Stunning carved mirror...

Rockin' little photo frame...
They have fab vignettes all of the store like this one, most mix new and vintage pieces...

For the silhouette-obsessed...

They recently started carrying John Robshaw which mixes in well with the rest of the merch.

Stunning, jewel-toned chandelier...

They carry Designer's Guild bedding...

Classic sofa paired with John Robshaw pillows and a modern lacquered table and AMAZING white chandelier...

I am full-on OBSESSED with this Designer's Guild pillow...

The back (which I forgot to snap) is the most fantastic shade of chartreuse...L-O-V-E!

A peek into their many shelves of pillows...

Pretty objets...

They also have tons of stationery and paper goods including a great selection of my favorite style, letterpress...

John Robshaw tunics and scarves and a pretty wall of wrapping paper...

Gorgeous wing chair....

Fun little monogram pillow...

Loved this desk vignette...

Especially this little piece of artwork...

These studded tables are another favorite of mine...

Finally, this Designer's Guild candle was made for me...it's blue, striped, and smells like clean laundry!

Such a pretty store, isn't it? If you see something that you want, be sure to call or email them to inquire about purchasing!

A Fun, Feathered Chandelier

Last week I got Jayson Home & Garden's catalog and my jaw dropped when I saw their new Emma Feather Pendant. I've never seen anything quite like it and I couldn't decide if I thought it was the most fabulous thing ever or a little too kooky. To sort out my thoughts I started dreaming up a design scheme that would complement the feathery fixture. To me, it seems perfect for a bedroom...especially a dreamy girly one, so here is what I put together to create that scenario:

Emma Feather Pendant - Jayson Home & Garden
Aleppo Inlay Table - Serena & Lily
Gabrielle Lamp - Z Gallerie
Diana Delgado original oil - Ugallery
Octavia Headboard - Serena & Lily
Eileen Fisher Bedding - Garnet Hill
Mid-Century Chair - Ceylon et Cie
Roger Single Bench - Made Goods
Safari Rug - West Elm

What are your thoughts? Would you ever use a feathered chandelier? I'm still on the fence but I'm dying to see it in person!

In the Flesh: Mary McDonald

Last week I went to Mary McDonald's book signing and obviously, I came home with a signed copy of her beautiful new book, Mary McDonald: Interiors, The Allure of Style. It is beyond amazing and would make such a wonderful gift...to yourself or someone else, so you might want to order a few copies before Christmas!

Here is Mary signing away at the party. This photo doesn't do her justice. She is honestly one of the prettiest people I've ever met. She must sleep in a cryogenic chamber because she looks unbelievably youthful. After seeing her completely flawless skin, gorgeous hair, and fantastic figure, I'm hoping her next book will just focus on revealing her beauty secrets! Added bonus, she was also super nice and seemed like tons of fun.

Like a little kid with a new toy, I couldn't wait to open it up. I dove into it right after getting home from the event. I was also quick to find just the right spot to display the book.

The orange accents on the cover fit right into my world.

Brace yourselves...now I have it positioned vertically. Pretty exciting, huh?

Ok, I'll stop showing off my new favorite book now. I'm equally excited to tell you all more about the venue at which the book signing was held. Ceylon et Cie is incredible and it was such a pleasure to chat with the glamorous proprietor, Michelle Nussbaumer, while at the party.

Here's a snapshot of Michelle and Mary...

Tomorrow's post will be all about the wondrous place that is Ceylon et Cie, so stay tuned for that!

Mary McDonald Book Signing

Remember last week when I gushed about Mary McDonald and her gorgeous new book that High Gloss is giving away? If you live in Dallas and would like a signed copy, then you're in luck! Tonight Ms. McD is having a book signing at Ceylon et Cie from 5-8pm. If you don't live in Big D or just can't make it to the event, then you'll just have to enjoy you these images of Mary's amazing work.

I remember when this photo made the cover of Domino!
