New Rug...the Love Child of Mindless Shopping

A few months ago, I mentioned getting a different rug for an area in our living room. Last week, the one I'd been considering was on One Kings Lane so I pounced on the sale and bought it. OKL items can sell out quickly since sales are only up for a limited time and the inventory quantity is usually low. With those treacherous shopping conditions in play, you have to be quick and decisive or else you'll end up empty-handed.

While in this crazy, paranoid state of mind, I stuck the rug in my cart and rushed to submit the order and seal my big retail win. The afterglow faded pretty quickly when I realized that I actually paid MORE for the OKL rug than the identical one I linked to in my post! Incredibly stupid oversight on my part. Luckily, the difference was only about $30...but as a die-hard online bargain shopper, I'm super annoyed with myself. The lesson learned is that buying in a hurried frenzy hardly ever pays off...no matter how good the deal seems.

The bright side of the story is that the rug works well in the room. I still want to tweak the furniture, but for now, the color/pattern of the rug improves the look of what's already there. What do you think?

  6. Your pics are gorgeous. I have had my eye on a very similar rug in aqua/ivory...on numerous occasions I have placed it in my online shopping cart and x'd out at the last minute. Probably won't be able to fight it much longer;) OKL had some fab shower curtains today~Of course the one I wanted sold out within about 30 minutes! Gotta be a sign I'll come across something better though~Have a fab day~

  8. I love the rug, just think it's a little too small. Never a good sign when the legs of your furniture look like they're hanging on for dear life. It looks amazing otherwise as does the rest of your house. My eye is just very critical when looking at styled pics online.

  13. I love your living room and your whole house for that matter. Seriously IN LOVE with your DECORATING skills. SO CUTE! Thanks for posting your paint colors a while back, it's so hard finding good paint colors especially grays.

  14. Your house is gorgeous and love your style. I have been eyeing this same rug in a rust color for my family room. But my only concern is how soft and plush it is. It's a place where my kids and I are going to be on the floor playing and hanging out so I want it to be soft and thick. So can you tell if this rug is indeed soft and thick and whether it would be comfortable to lay on like my kids and I will be doing when playing puzzles or coloring. Your feedback will be GREATLY appreciated.

  15. Smitha, Thanks for the house compliments :) As far as the rug goes, it is definitely not soft and plush. It feels a little less rough than sisal or jute so it's probably not what you're looking for. My Jonathan Adler rug is super soft (kind of like a thick sweater) so you might want to check those out.
