Sharon Montrose's Animal Print Shop

One of the most challenging tasks is finding artwork for nurseries and kids rooms that is affordable and sophisticated enough to not read cheesy/tacky. Well, thanks to pro photog Sharon Montrose, there is a resource for art that is perfect in spaces for the young (and old). The Animal Print Shop sells Montrose's gorgeous photographs of animals, many of which are tiny babies, and I'll just tell you to be prepared to smile and say, "awwwww" over and over. Here are some of the Little Darlings above a crib...

The series of portraits is simple and sophisticated, but still exuberant and playful. Montrose captures the personalities of dozens of live animals and if you're an animal lover like I am, you'll want them all (except I wasn't so into the reptiles). You can order prints in a variety of sizes and the 8.5 x 11" size open edition starts at just $25 (plus it can be framed in ready made frames from retailers like IKEA and West Elm).

A set of the small sizes would be great for the kiddos but if you're buying for the more mature rooms in your house, up the ante and buy the larger sizes because they are more dramatic. I want to get my hands on a 30" x 40" - the thought of picking one stresses me out. I'd have to have a menagerie!

Here are a few of my favorites...

So, what are your thoughts on the photographs from The Animal Print Shop? I just love them but I'm also a little bit obsessed with animals. Do you have a favorite subject from the bunch?

And in case you're like me and found yourself wondering about the welfare and lifestyle of the animals in the photos, rest assured that they are a-ok and are cared for by experienced keepers and handlers. Montrose notes that the series helps support several organizations devoted to animal rescue, educational programs, and nurturing wildlife...so yay for them :)
