Highlights from High Point Round 2

As I mentioned last week, I had a very productive trip to High Point Market and found TONS of great things! I went non-stop and hit dozens of vendor booths and showrooms. I took about 1,100 photos (no joke) so you won't be able to see everything, but between a few posts, I'll share a sampling of my top picks. So here we go...

The Bernhardt showroom is a doozy and it's organized by collection, which is fantastic because it's easier to focus on individual pieces. Here's a small taste of the goodness...

Perfect lacquered vanity/desk and oversized mirror...

And I'm a sucker for bone inlay pieces and there were lots of those in the mix, including this dining table...

This bench with rolling storage baskets was a clever design...

Another glam desk/vanity...this one had faux shagreen drawer fronts and a brass base. I was obsessed with the chair too (which you might've seen already on my Instagram)...

Classy little hexagonal side table + chair...

There were numerous dressers and chests that I fell for including these pretties...

Finally, a pair of zebra striped cocktail cube tables constructed with bone...

Festoni goodies included lighting, mirrors, upholstery, case pieces, and objets like these...

Amongst a sea of worthless giclées, I was pleased to spot some stunning original art at Charles Harold Company....

I liked the nail trim on this little stool by Kim Salmela...

I was thrilled to finally see the Thibaut furniture line! I loved it all (and everything was amazing to sit on) but this ottoman and the chairs below were amongst my favorites...

SUPER comfy little slipper chairs...

I stumbled across Orientalist Home which turned out to be a great source for pillows, flat weaves, and dyed rugs. This style looks amazingly similar to a design that Madeline Weinrib sells...

I was so glad to find small manufacturers like Rogue Wood, a group that produces all of their furniture in Oregon. This was a nice little chest of drawers...

Whew...you probably won't believe me but that's a majorly edited set of picks from each vendor!

AERIN At Home

If you haven't already, you should check out Aerin Lauder's site, AERIN. It's full of all things fabulous thanks to the creative force of its high-style curator. The beauty and lifestyle brand reflects a sophisticated, modern, and slightly edgy aesthetic. This image from the site pretty much sums it up...like Aerin herself, the goods are cool and classic all at the same time.

There are lots of gold and brass tones in the set and I especially love the gilded accessories and objets in the At Home set. Two of my favorite pieces are shown in the below photo - the Round Woven Cachepot and the Round Match Striker.

I didn't really delve into the Beauty realm, but aren't the At Home collections lovely? I really love the bowls and cachepots for orchids.

Are you wondering why I picked the random comb? I have to admit that I have had the same wide tooth comb since the 90s - seriously. It's teal and hot pink and probably matched the Caboodle I had at the time...hehe. So, it's probably time for me to upgrade!

Unsaturated + Saturated Living Room Board

It's been a while since I posted a design board, so I decided to create one that shows a living room scheme. I started with a fabulous smoky coal gray sofa from Jayson Home and a few bold pieces of art by Susie Reiss that I saw on Artsicle (another gallery that offers a rental option like Rise Art). The idea was to bring subdued tones together with saturated ones. I also mixed some rather classic pieces with more modern wares. Have a look...

Well, what do you think? Do you like the color mix? There is a lot of pink and red and I'm really liking how those shades look with the greys. Do you have any favorite items? I love the wild lime chair with the retro fabric...the shape is amazing. Unfortunately, it's part of a pair that is pretty pricey. On the unsaturated side, I really like the vintage aerial photograph. Because of the rural landscape, as first glance it looks like abstract art.

Shopping C. Wonder

A while back, I posted about the opening of C. Wonder, a store (now there are multiple stores) in New York that carries private label clothing, jewelry and accessories, shoes, bags, and last but not least, items for the home.

Like most modern retailers, C. Wonder sells their wares online and I've been doing some browsing. I like their vibe...the brand has a lot of personality. Most of the items for sale are fun, trendy, and a bit sassy. It's an awesome place to buy gifts and also keep it in mind when you are hunting for basics like solid colored pillows or silver photo frames. The prices are super low...in fact, the super low prices have me wondering about the quality of the merch and whether or not it's all made in China. I suppose I'll have to hold judgement on those aspects until I order something or make my way to NYC!
