Stunning Sectionals

Ok, the adjective "stunning" might be a bit of a stretch for sectionals. These oversized sofas aren't normally considered attractive, much less stunning. I tend to think of pleather and recliners when I hear the term. I will say, however, that there are some really good looking sectionals these days which is fantastic because it's hard to beat the comfort and functionality that they offer. They provide lots of seating space and most importantly, plenty of room for lounging which is precisely why I put one in my own den.

Hickory Chair is an excellent source for a quality, American-made custom sectional. I also love lots of styles from Room Service, but their product photography isn't conducive to my needs :)

Framing Options: Part 3

Here is the last and final frame option that I chose from Larson-Juhl, it's a sleek white style called Gallery One (324941).  I paired it with a few quasi-traditional furniture items and some bold rugs. The frame is shown hanging against two super different wall colors, the first is a soft gray by Sherwin-Williams called Front Porch (7651) and the second is a vibrant magenta also by Shewin-Williams called Valentine (6587).

With the help of Larson-Juhl's nifty frame viewer, I played with a few different frames and room scenarios to illustrate how framing can make a huge impact on how artwork is integrated into a space.

Although I have a special place in my heart for all of the following, #12 and #16 are the ones that rise to top of my list.

If I had the pleasure of ordering a pair of the Salon Corner Chairs (#12) for my home, you can bet that I wouldn't get it in red leather. I'd choose a solid fabric in a color light enough to showcase all of that gorgeous tufting. A few years ago I saw a pair of chairs very similar to this at Mecox and they were upholstered in a peacock blue velvet, which was incredible. I know that Cisco Brothers made those, but I'm not sure who manufactures the ones from High Fashion Home.

I adore EVERYTHING about Plantation's Wing Chair, #16, from the tall, dramatic tufted back to the nailhead trim that so perfectly articulates the chair's curves. The ottoman (used in one of my entry boards) is the icing on the cake. I would kill to have a pair of these flanking the fireplace in my living room!

Chair Hall of Fame

I've spent lots of time shopping for chairs lately...mostly for other people, but it's hard to avoid picking favorites of my own, even if they don't fit into the project at hand. I can't help but obsess over some of them. Honestly, if I had tons of money, I'd probably become a chair hoarder!

Anyhow, seeing as there are so many fabulous chairs out there, I started tracking my favorites and now keep a file of "Top Chairs."  The file has gotten pretty full and I wanted to start sharing my picks before the list becomes unmanageable. Right now, just over 30 beauties have made the cut, so I'll dose it out to you in three installments. Enjoy!

Sam's House

Within the span of a month, my cousin-in-law and her husband moved into a new house and had a baby boy...named Sam :) Decorating and furnishing the house is on the docket, but is such a tough agenda item to tackle when you have a newborn. I offered to help out and asked that she provide a few photos of rooms to use as a style guide.

Always in the mood for Nate Berkus

Happy Nate Berkus Day as declared by the fabulous the Moggit girls! Today I'm celebrating NB day and getting ready for the upcoming Mood Board Monday over at Pewter and Sage with a Nate Berkus-inspired bedroom mood board. If you're a regular reader, you probably know that I stalk the Nate Berkus collection on HSN, so lots of those items have been used in the board. The ones that are still available for purchase are listed and linked below. The bedding is from Pottery Barn and was one of my options for the MBM...it's on final sale and only the twin duvets are available.
